The Jadar deposit located in Eastern Serbia contains high-quality boron and lithium, and has the potential to support long-term production and supply lithium for decades. The Jadar Project is managed by our subsidiary, Rio Sava Exploration d.o.o.
Following the Government of Serbia’s decision on 16 July 2024 to reinstate the Jadar Project Spatial Plan of the Special Purpose Area (SPSPA), we have continued to engage with stakeholders in Serbia and internationally, focusing on transparent, fact-based dialogue about the future of the Jadar Project.
We are transitioning the Jadar Project into care and maintenance. This decision reflects our global focus on capital discipline and prioritising near-term opportunities, while continuing to engage constructively with the Government of Serbia and other stakeholders.
The Jadar Project remains a world-class lithium-borates resource and has been granted Strategic Project status by the European Union, recognising its importance for Europe’s critical raw materials supply and energy transition.
Under care and maintenance, we will continue to meet our legal obligations, manage company-owned land and assets safely, and maintain strong community partnerships.
We believe Jadar has the potential to play a significant role in Serbia and Europe’s energy transition when conditions allow. We will continue to engage openly with stakeholders to preserve future development options.
