Rio Tinto continually monitors reservoir levels and ongoing adjustments are made to water discharge from the reservoir in order to achieve a balance between environmental protection and ensuring there is energy to power the smelter. In doing so we are also committed to sharing information about reservoir management with watershed communities and other interested parties.
Based on community feedback, Rio Tinto has developed the Nechako Reservoir Flow Facts, an interactive web tool that provides real time data about reservoir activity, as well as historical data. Click on in the icon below to launch the web tool.
For detailed information on real-time water flow data from the Government of Canada’s Water Office, please visit the Government of Canada's wateroffice site and search for the station of interest.
