LABRADOR CITY, Canada – La Companie minière IOC de Rio Tinto investit 800 000 $ sur deux ans pour soutenir l’agrandissement du service de garde Lil Snowflakes à Wabush. L’agrandissement augmentera la capacité du service de garde à environ 116 places, y compris 86 places à temps plein et 50 places réservées aux enfants des employé(e)s d’IOC. Les places réservées aideront à retenir la main-d’oeuvre locale tout en assurant aux familles de la région un accès à un service de garde de qualité.
Cet investissement permettra aussi d’ajouter deux nouvelles salles de classe, d’améliorer le mobilier et les fournitures, d’améliorer les installations et d’ajouter du matériel sur la culture autochtone pour enrichir les expériences d’apprentissage.
Le chef des opérations d’IOC, Ryan Harnden, a déclaré : « Cet investissement est le reflet de notre engagement envers la création de communautés prospères. L’accès à un service de garde pour enfants de qualité est essentiel pour les familles de Labrador West et nous sommes fiers de collaborer avec nos partenaires de la communauté pour nous aider à répondre à ce besoin d’une manière durable. Le développement de services de garde diversifiés permet d’offrir davantage de flexibilité aux parents qui travaillent, ce qui renforce notre position d’employeur de choix dans la région. Rio Tinto IOC continue de s’engager à travailler avec les partenaires de la communauté pour soutenir les solutions à long terme pour les familles de la région. »
La directrice de la garderie Lil Snowflakes, Regan Antle, a déclaré : « L’agrandissement du service de garde pour enfants Lil Snowflakes est une étape transformative pour les familles à Labrador West. Avec le soutien d’IOC, nous pouvons offrir à plus d’enfants un environnement sécuritaire et enrichissant, tout en assurant la durabilité à long terme de notre centre. Cet investissement fera une véritable différence pour les parents, les éducateurs et éducatrices, et plus important encore, les enfants sous nos soins. »
Les parents recevront une communication de la part de l’équipe de direction du service de garde au cours des prochaines semaines pour les informer des places disponibles, en fonction de la liste d’attente existante.
