As one of the Top Employers in Canada, we’re committed to our people’s growth by fostering a culture of innovation, diversity and collaboration.
Our employees are at the core of our success, and their health, safety and well-being remain our utmost priority.
I have a passion for learning and finding new ways to do things. I grew up in mainland China where I studied computer science. After completing my bachelor’s degree, I moved to France and earned a master’s and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in the same field. I arrived in Canada a few years later, where I studied as a postdoctoral research fellow and subsequently started my professional journey.
What drew me to Rio Tinto was its commitment to environmental sustainability, prioritisation of safety and well-being, and focus on development. The culture of collaboration is something that resonates with me as well. Working in a global company with colleagues from all over the world has provided a learning environment where I can thrive.
We are committed to an inclusive environment where people feel comfortable to be themselves. We want our people to feel that all voices are heard, all cultures respected and that a variety of perspectives are not only welcome – they are essential to our success. We treat each other fairly and with dignity regardless of race, gender, nationality, ethnic origin, religion, age, sexual orientation or anything else that makes us different.
We also aim for a diverse workplace – not just because it is good for our business, but because it is the right thing to do. We are not where we want to be on gender diversity, so we have established clear targets to improve the number of women in our organisation, at all levels. We have gender-neutral parental leave in all countries in which we operate and our policy on inclusion and diversity reinforces our expectations around behaviours and personal accountability. We set ambitious goals to increase our diversity year on year.
