Saguenay – Rio Tinto améliore la sécurité de ses employés et optimise ses opérations en modernisant les installations de son Usine Vaudreuil, le site d'une raffinerie d'alumine et de services connexes au Saguenay, au Québec.
Grâce à un investissement de 70 millions de dollars canadiens, trois nouveaux bâtiments écoénergétiques sont en cours de construction et des installations existantes seront réaménagées pour offrir à près de 400 employés une salle de contrôle centralisée, des bureaux et des aires communes une fois les travaux terminés au début de 2021.
Les améliorations permettront d'éloigner les employés des processus industriels et de regrouper six salles de contrôle distinctes en un seul lieu centralisé avec des technologies de pointe en matière de gestion de l’information, ce qui améliorera l'efficacité des opérations, des communications et de la prise de décision.
Plus de la moitié de l'investissement a déjà été accordé à des entreprises de la région du Saguenay - Lac-St-Jean, comme Proco, et d'autres contrats seront octroyés dans les prochains mois.
Sébastien Ross, directeur exécutif des Opérations Québec de Rio Tinto a déclaré : « Cet investissement permettra à nos employés de travailler dans un environnement encore plus sécuritaire et plus moderne, alors que nous optimisons nos opérations à l'Usine Vaudreuil. Nous sommes heureux de collaborer avec les employés, les représentants syndicaux et les entrepreneurs de la région pour continuer d’améliorer l’excellence opérationnelle tout en générant des retombées économiques importantes dans la région. »
