Seismic event at Oyu Tolgoi

Rio Tinto confirms that at approximately 18:00 (local time) on 29 October, seismic activity occurred along a rock fault zone at Oyu Tolgoi in Mongolia, resulting in ground vibration in the underground mine.

There have been no fatalities. Three employees sustained injuries.

Underground operations are currently paused in line with procedure, subject to completion of a safety review.
