Life cycle analysis
Life cycle analysis (LCA) is an analytical procedure to compile and evaluate the environmental inputs and outputs and the potential environmental impacts of a product throughout its life ("cradle to grave" assessment).
Proportion of businesses that have performed Life cycle analysis on key products
By the end of 2005, 43 per cent of our businesses had performed varying levels of LCAs on their products. This includes 30 per cent where LCA has been performed on at least one or more key products. For the 13 per cent of businesses that conducted LCAs on all of their key products, nine per cent of businesses performed LCAs according to ISO standards (14040 series) and four per cent had conducted LCAs on all their key products by other approaches.
