Community champions grant

The application submission deadline for the community champions grant was 30 September 2016.

Grants valued at $2,000 are awarded to successful organizations’ sport, art, recreation or cultural initiatives. Congratulations to recent grant recipients including:

  • Gameti women's sewing group
  • Yamozha Kue Society young artisan program
  • Kugluktuk junior rangers sewing program
  • Foster Family Coalition cultural supplies

Community safety investment grant

The application submission deadline for the community safety investment grant was 30 September 2016.

In 2015, the $5,000 safety grant was awarded to Sir John Franklin High School.

Healthy school grant

The application submission deadline for healthy school grant was 1 April 2016.

Congratulations to the Lutsel K'e Dene School, recipient of  the 2015 healthy school grant. The school received $25,000 for its literacy program.

Diamonds for dollars

Diavik donates polished diamonds to community organizations' fundraising initiatives. In 2015, Diavik partnered with Crossworks Manufacturing to donate polished Diavik diamonds to the Yellowknife Seniors' Society annual raffle and to the Yellowknife Community Foundation gala. Diavik also donated a polished Diavik diamond to KidSport NWT.

Employee participation matching grant

Through this program, Diavik matches funds that employees raise for various organizations. The Diavik Rough Relay Road Runners raised $5,941 for the Canadian Cancer Society at the Relay for Life in Yellowknife. Diavik matched with a $5,000 donation.


Diavik is a strong supporter of northerners striving for career development through increased education. To demonstrate its commitment, the company invests in northerners through scholarships. Since 1997, Diavik has donated $3.3 million for scholarships.

Diavik Community Scholarship

Through the Yellowknife Community Foundation, Diavik provides scholarships to successful applicants pursuing an education in mining or resource development.

Additionally, Diavik supports community education through scholarships awarded through the Yellowknives Dene First Nation, Tlicho Government, North Slave Metis Alliance, Kitikmeot Inuit Association, and Lutsel K'e Dene First Nation.
