Philip was appointed to the Executive Committee in 2017.
Previously he was with Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, where he was a senior partner specialising in corporate law.
Philip has extensive experience in governance, corporate advisory and transactional work. At Freshfields, he established and led the financial institutions group for many years, advising on a number of significant transactions in the sector. Philip also spent four years as one of the two managing partners for the firm’s Italian business and maintained his transactional practice, advising on a number of cross-border deals and investments for banks, corporates and private equity firms.
His previous experience includes acting for a range of global companies including Barclays, Tesco, Prudential, LSEG, Liberty Global and Swiss Re.
Philip read jurisprudence at Lincoln College, Oxford before joining Freshfields in 1978. He became a partner in 1987.
