Rio Tinto coal operations and activities fall under the Rio Tinto Energy group's portfolio. The Rio Tinto Energy group comprises uranium, thermal coal and coking coal operations. Our coal interests are located in Australia and the US, and supply internationally traded and domestic US and Australian markets.
Rio Tinto coal properties produce low sulphur steam coal for electricity generating stations, metallurgical coking coal for iron and steel mills, and coal for international trade.
