Napranum Preschool Parents and Learning Group (NPPLG)

Napranum Preschool Parents and Learning Group (NPPLG) and Rio Tinto work together to deliver the Parents and Learning programme (PaL) to indigenous communities near Rio Tinto operations. The partnership focuses on building capacity within NPPLG to manage and deliver the PaL programme and to foster confidence and skills of leadership, team membership and personal development in indigenous Australians.

NPPLG developed PaL as a parent support programme for indigenous communities. The two-year home-based programme provides practical structured support for parents through home delivery of educational kits which have early literacy and numeracy as their focus. The aim of the programme is to promote parents' belief in themselves as effective contributors to the early education of their children.
