To ensure Rio Tinto's local communities policies are contributing to the Group's business effectiveness, regular monitoring and review of our programmes is undertaken.

All Group businesses produce their own local social and environmental reports on an annual basis. These demonstrate performance and issues raised during the year, and we believe they are the best way to ensure transparency in our relationships with our communities.
