Global partnerships programme
Engagement through social, environmental and economic partnerships
To be successful, Rio Tinto must have responsible and transparent business practices, which includes an integrated approach to economic, social and environmental management as well as effective corporate governance.
Rio Tinto's conduct as a global minerals company is guided by our statement of business practice, The way we work. The aim of our policies is to ensure consistency of approach wherever we operate around the world.
In meeting the standards we set for ourselves we believe we often succeed, but acknowledge there are some issues we cannot tackle alone. There are many ways Rio Tinto seeks to engage, interact, consult, communicate and work with communities, governments, inter-government and non-government organisations, industry associations, academic and social institutions. One of those ways is to work in partnership on projects of mutual interest, responsibility or benefit.
Partnerships
Rio Tinto partnerships are diverse and address a range of issues and challenges facing our business at a global, regional and local level. Our partnerships work to address the social and environmental impact of our business, and build stronger communities in the areas in which we operate.
Trusts, funds and foundations
Trusts, funds and foundations are one way Rio Tinto works with communities to address issues and challenges of mutual concern.
