Sources of energy used
Our results
Primary energy analysis take the efficiency of electricity and steam generation into consideration. This means that it is the sum of the energy that we used as coal, diesel, natural gas, electricity and steam plus the energy that others used to generate the electricity and steam that we purchased.
The acquisition of Alcan means that two thirds of our combined electricity supply will be hydro and nuclear power going forward. This is a substantially higher proportion of greenhouse friendly energy use than the international average.
