Environmental partnerships
Wherever possible we prevent, or otherwise minimise, mitigate and remediate, harmful effects of the Group's operations on the environment.
Rio Tinto aims to manage environmental risks, comply with legislation and internal standards and mitigate the effects that our activities have on the environment. Engagement with host communities, governments, regulators, non-government organisations, customers and suppliers helps Rio Tinto better understand and minimise the impact on the environment of our activities.
Developing partnerships with science and conservation organisations with specialist knowledge is one of the ways Rio Tinto seeks to manage its environmental responsibilities. Working together on projects helps Rio Tinto and our partners better understand each others' perspectives as well as achieve outcomes that are acceptable to all involved.
The following partnerships are examples of how we work with other organisations to support our environmental policies.
