Improving performance together
We are continually looking for ways to improve our performance
So in 2004, we set ourselves a number of challenges aimed at making improvements in this area. These were:
- To deliver measurable dollars to our bottom line, in terms of a financial target for 2006 of over US$150 million in additional cash flow.
- To change the way we run our businesses in order to deliver greater value to our shareholders.
- To see significant increases in NPV (Net Present Value) in a number of business units.
How we are improving performance
In order to meet these challenges, we introduced a new initiative: Improving performance together (IPT). And this has helped us to improve business performance, increase collaboration and share best practice across the Group.
Our results
An excellent example of IPT methods at work is the 2006 programme to extend the life of heavy vehicle typres. We have opened a retreading plant for large haul truck tyres in Perth, Western Australia, using world-first technology and testing procedures. This helps us to extend the lives of our tyres.
