Safe, efficient and innovative suppliers and contractors are strategically important to our success. We expect to participate in a fair and competitive market place, and to provide a fair evaluation and selection process that is applied consistently to all prospective suppliers.

Our approach

In 2006, we published our commercial business practices policy, The way we buy. This policy reflects how our corporate philosophy meets the operating demands of our business units, while ensuring that we conduct our procurement in a manner that is holistic, transparent and sustainable.

We value suppliers who can demonstrate that they operate in a manner consistent with our own policies. As a minimum we require our suppliers to maintain policies that support fair competition and integrity, require adherence to applicable laws, standards and regulations, and prohibit giving or receiving bribes, with a process for assuring compliance. Suppliers must also demonstrate a strong organisational commitment to sustainable development.

We value suppliers with policies and practices that demonstrate active awareness and support of sustainable development principles and who can help us achieve sustainable development objectives. We also maintain an active product stewardship programme that includes systems to identify and manage supplier activities regarding their own health and environmental issues.
