Rio Tinto has again been identified as a sustainability leader by retaining its listing on the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) World Index and the Dow Jones STOXX Sustainability Index for 2009.
The results were announced in the annual review of the DJSI family.
The Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes are celebrating their 10th anniversary this year. Since their inception, they have become a leading worldwide reference point for investing in companies with a good sustainable development record. The inclusion of companies in the indexes is based on a comprehensive sustainable development assessment of more than 1,000 exchange listed companies, based on economic, environmental, and social criteria.
