Search tips

• Searches are not case-sensitive: london = London, LONDON and lOndon
• Searches match whole words: black = black, but not blackened. (Wildcard characters, such as * and ? are not permitted)
• Searches don't automatically match plurals: If you want to find islands as well as island, enter both, as island islands
• Searches ignore punctuation and hyphens: tung chee hwa = Tung Chee-hwa. Don't search for possessives (e.g., China's)
• Searches can't find phrases (for example, you can't enter "copper mine"), but they can find articles
• containing more than one keyword - which may obtain the desired result, especially if you use the + sign in front of the keywords. For example: A search for "copper mine" found 180 documents. But +copper +mine found just 120 documents, both copper and mine are contained in the same page, giving a more accurate result.
