Because of the diversity within Rio Tinto it is not always meaningful or practical to present data and set targets at the Group level. Businesses and operations set site-specific targets, using indicators directly focussed on managing local issues. These targets supplement the longer-term Group level environment and occupational health targets which have been set.

Some of these targets as well as selected data for key parameters are presented here. However, the key source of information on the social and environment programmes and performance of each business is their local Social and environment report.
