Rio Tinto's goal is to eliminate occupational disease in the Group by implementing effective practices to manage exposures in the workplace. This goal applies to all employees in the businesses we manage and we will urge the same goal on those businesses we do not manage.

Our strategic plan to achieve this goal includes:

• Businesses to have their own occupational health strategy including targets for each applicable category of occupational disease and a brief description of the actions required to achieve each target;
• The development of standards and guidelines for occupational health management; and
• Recognising and managing current and future health risks and adopting best practice management programmes to control them.

As with safety, we also have an occupational health intranet site to share best practice around the Group as well as distribute information, such as standards and guidelines.
