Rio Tinto provided a case study to the UN Global Compact on how our Human rights guidance was developed in 2003 and promoted around the Group. We participated in Global Compact workshops in 2003. We remain actively involved in the semi annual meetings to support the US/UK Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights.

Rio Tinto has established an internal human rights website to disseminate and promote case studies and initiatives around the Group broadly centred on communities, security and employees. The website provides links to useful documents and websites relating to human rights.
