Incidents Spills
There were 346 spills in 2003, an increase of 22 per cent from 2002.
Eight of these were classified as significant and, although we did not meet our target of zero significant spills, this was a 50 per cent decrease from last year. Of the eight spills in 2003:
- Three were due to pipeline failures, two to mechanical failures and one each to a leaking tank, storm event and overflow.
- Four were spills of effluent and one each was water, diesel, copper concentrate and chlorine.
Our target continues to be zero significant spills.
