Employment performance  Speak-OUT: 2003 summary report

In 2003, the following business units implemented the programme:

Diavik; Hamersley Pacific; IOC; Kennecott Land; Kennecott Minerals; Luzenac Europe (France, Italy, Spain, Austria; UK; Belgium); Luzenac Mexico; QMP Germany; Rio Tinto Asia (China, Korea, Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, India, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan); Borax Asia (Singapore, Malaysia, China, Taiwan, Japan); Borax Europe (Belgium, Spain, Italy, France, Germany); Borax South America (Argentina, Brazil); Rio Tinto Japan; Rio Tinto Exploration (Botswana, Guinea, South Africa, UK, Bulgaria, Argentina, Peru); Rio Tinto Brasil; Rio Tinto Shared Services; Rio Tinto Procurement; Lihir (Papua New Guinea).

Call activity rates continue to be encouragingly low, with the majority of calls relating to personnel (34%) and procedural (24%) matters.

During 2004, we will continue to roll out the programme and aim to make the programme available to all employees in managed operations where telephony permits, by the end of Q1.
