I do not see a position that I am interested in, but would like to submit a general profile. What should I do?

If you have not done so already, create a new account. To create a profile, click on the "Sign in" link in the top right corner of the Job Search page. After reviewing the privacy agreement, click "New User" and follow the prompts to create a user name and password. On the Job Search page, click on the "Create/Access my profile" link on the right hand side of the job search results.

How do I edit my personal information on my profile?

Click the "Sign In" link in the top right corner of the Job Search page. After reviewing/accepting the privacy agreement, enter your username and password and click "Login." Once logged in, select "My Account Options." Under each section header, click "Edit" to update the information as desired.

How do I change or reset my password?

Click the "Sign In" link in the top right corner of the Job Search page. After reviewing/accepting the privacy agreement, enter your username and password and click "Login." Once logged in, select "My Account Options." Select "Edit" next to the section titled "Login Information." Enter your current password and new password in the corresponding fields. If you have forgotten your password, click on the "Sign In" link in the top right corner of the Job Search page. After reviewing/accepting the privacy agreement, click "Forgot your password?". Enter your username and email address in the appropriate fields and click OK. You will receive a Change Password email. Open this email and follow the instructions. If you are having problems with the link, please open the attachment sent with the email and try again. Please note that this email will only be good once to access the application process or change your password. Once you reach the change password screen, enter the requested information. The temporary password in the email should be entered in the Old Password field.

I have forgotten my password. What should I do?

After reviewing/accepting the privacy agreement, you must click "Forgot your password?". Enter your username and email address in the appropriate fields and click OK. You will receive a Change Password email. Open this email and follow the instructions. If you are having problems with the link, please open the attachment sent with the email and try again. Please note that this email will only be good once to access the application process or change your password. Once you reach the change password screen, enter the requested information. The temporary password in the email should be entered in the Old Password field. Select your new password keeping the following in mind:

  • It must contain between 6 and 32 characters. Use only characters from the following set: ! # $ % & ( ) * + , - . / 0123456789 : ; < = > ? @ ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ [ \ ] _ ` abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz { | } ~ It must contain at least 1 letter(s) (ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz)
  • It must contain at least 1 numeric character(s) (0123456789)
  • It must not contain more than 2 identical consecutive characters (AAA, iiii, $$$$$ ...)
  • It must not contain your user name

I have forgotten my username. What should I do?

In order to retrieve your username, click on the "Sign In" link in the top right corner of the Job Search page. After reviewing/accepting the privacy agreement, you must click "Forgot your username?". Enter your email address in the appropriate field and click Validate.

How do I subscribe/unsubscribe from receiving job posting notifications?

To subscribe/unsubscribe from notifications, you need to access your profile. Click the "Sign In" link in the top right corner of the Job Search page. After reviewing/accepting the privacy agreement, enter your username and password and click "Login." At the top of the page, click the "My Account Options" link. Navigate down to the last section titled "Correspondence" and select "Edit." Check/Uncheck the box for "Send me an email notification whenever a new position matching my profile is posted (job posting notification)." and click "Save."

How do I find positions that could be interesting for me?

To search for available jobs within Rio Tinto, please use the search fields available on the "Job Search" page of our career section. If you are having issues with the job search function, please refer to the tips below:

  • Start by clearing the search form with the "Clear" button
  • Make sure your search is not too specific. If you enter search criteria but there are no jobs in the search results, it is possible there are no jobs currently posted that match all your specific criteria. Clear the search page using the "Clear" button and search with fewer or different criteria. This is not a guarantee of results; as even with fewer criteria, it is still possible that few or no jobs are posted that match your criteria exactly
  • If you know the job number for a specific position, it is recommended to search on the job number only. No additional criteria are needed. Make sure the form is clear, enter the job number and click Search. You can also search using just part of the job number
  • If a specific job can't be found, it is likely the job is no longer posted

How do I find out the status of my application?

To view the status of your submitted applications, you need to access your profile. Click the "Sign In" link in the top right corner of the Job Search page. After reviewing/accepting the privacy agreement, enter your username and password and click "Login." Click on the "My Job Page" tab, then "My Submissions." This page will display information about jobs for which you've begin or submitted an application, the status of the job and the status of your application within the job.

I started an application, but wasn't able to finish, so I closed out of the application. What should I do?

Click the "Sign In" link in the top right corner of the job search page. After reviewing/accepting the privacy agreement, enter your username and password and click "Login." Click on the "My Job Page" tab. The "My Submissions" tab will display your jobs submissions, including Draft Submissions. Select "Finish Draft Submission" for the job in question to complete the application process. If the position does not show, please search for the job and start the process again. To avoid this, always ensure that you click "Save as Draft" before closing out of the application

Can I make changes to my application and/or apply for another position?

Changes can be made to any application as long as the job is still posted. To make changes to your applications, you'll need to access your profile. Click the "Sign In" link in the top right corner of the job search page. After reviewing/accepting the privacy agreement, enter your username and password and click "Login" then select "My Job Page." The "My Submissions" tab will display. Next, click the "View/Edit Submission" link next to the application that you wish to edit. To view and apply for other jobs, click the "Job Search" tab at the top of the page and search using the available fields.

How do I withdraw from a position?

Click the "Sign In" link in the top right corner of the job search page. After reviewing/accepting the privacy agreement, enter your username and password and click "Login" then select "My Job Page." Click the "Withdraw" link next to the application from which you wish to remove your submission. Enter a short explanation regarding the reason for withdrawal and click "Yes."

The system keeps saying my email address already exists. What should I do?

This means that a profile has previously been created on our site using this email address. In order to retrieve your username, click on the "Sign In" link in the top right corner of the Job Search page. After reviewing/accepting the privacy agreement, click "Forgot your username?". Enter the email address in the appropriate field and click "Validate." The system will return the username associated with the account on which the email address is found. If the account shown does not belong to you - ie. if someone else has created a profile using your email address - please contact us ASAP at riotintorecruitmentsystemsupport@icareerhelp.com so we can rectify the situation. If you also need to retrieve your password, click "Forgot your password?". Enter your username and email address in the appropriate fields and click "OK." You will receive a Change Password email. Open this email and follow the instructions. If you are having problems with the link, please open the attachment sent with the email and try again. Please note that this email will only be good once to access the application process or change your password. Once you reach the change password screen, enter the requested information. The temporary password in the email should be entered in the Old Password field.

I'm having trouble accessing a job posting on your site or I am experiencing technical difficulties. What should I do?

Please read through the following technical requirements and ensure that your computer is set up accordingly. Many times this helps resolve the issue and can get you back on track in submitting your resume or completing your application. If this doesn't resolve it, please send an email to riotintorecruitmentsystemsupport@icareerhelp.com and include any error messages you are receiving and/or screenshots of the error. This helps us understand the issue better and resolve it in a timely manner.

  1. It is necessary to use one of the following computer configurations:
    • a. Windows XP, Internet Explorer 6, 7 and 8 are supported as well as Firefox 3.5
    • b. With Windows Vista, Internet Explorer 7 and 8 are supported as well as Firefox 3.5
    • c. With Windows 7, Internet Explorer 8 is supported as well as Firefox 3.5
    • d. With Mac OS X 10.4 and above, Safari 3.x and Firefox 3.5 may work most of the time but not necessarily always. Try one of the configurations above if Mac is an issue
  2. Occasionally settings in firewall or security software such as Norton, Symantec or McAfee, as well as other products, interfere with the proper operation of online application features, such as toolbars. You may need to adjust these settings or temporarily disable these programs in order to proceed
  3. Enable pop-ups in your web browser
  4. To prevent you from being timed out, make sure you are spending less than 10 minutes on any given page
  5. Try deleting the cookies and temporary internet files in the Tools > Internet Options menu of Internet Explorer
  6. Enable cookies in your web browser
