Europe

Rio Tinto has 28 sites across nine European countries, employing 6,300 people. Most of the opportunities for graduates with Rio Tinto in Europe are in, or close to, large metropolitan centres. Our people work at our headquarters in London, at offices in other European cities, and at our operations. In Europe, our operations mainly involve the processing and extraction of aluminium and talc.

Across Europe, we recruit international candidates from engineering disciplines, including chemical engineering, metallurgical and process engineering and mining engineering. We also need people to support our business functions, whose backgrounds may be in areas such as finance, project management, supply chain, business development, strategy or human resources.

It is common for employees to start their careers with Rio Tinto through internships, summer placements and VIE (Volunteer for an International Experience - for European students). If you performed well during an internship, we'll do our best to find a graduate opportunity for you within the Group.

Each year we offer about 60 internships and summer placements in Europe with assignments spanning many disciplines.

We are looking for candidates who will take a proactive approach to their career. At Rio Tinto, we believe "the world is what you make of it". Create your own opportunities and unearth your potential through an internship or placement with us.
