Diavik produces a beautiful range of predominantly white, gem quality diamonds prized for their distinctiveness and value. All of Diavik’s diamonds are sold as "rough" or uncut diamonds. Under the joint venture agreement with Dominion Diamond Diavik Limited Rio Tinto’s 60% share of the Diavik production is sorted and prepared for international sale by Rio Tinto's sales and marketing team in Antwerp, Belgium.
Rio Tinto’s entire Diavik production is used in high end jewellery and finds a home in all major consumer markets around the world. Diavik diamonds make excellent polished gems due to the range of top white colours and consistent shapes.
Rio Tinto's marketing campaigns have helped to build an appreciation of Diavik diamonds which enjoy a high profile in the international diamond market. Thanks to Canada's high social and environmental standards of mining and the Diavik Diamond Mine's award-winning approaches to mining engineering, safety and sustainable development, Canadian diamonds guarantee an issue-free origin.
