The board of directors is composed of 13 directors, whose expertise cover a broad range of industries and provide an invaluable perspective on Rio Tinto's business.

Corporate governance standards in the jurisdictions where Rio Tinto is listed require that a majority of directors, as well as members of a number of committees, are independent of the Group.
