Serving our communities

Community assistance

Community assistance is the ‘value added’ programmes that businesses contribute to the community. These programmes go beyond compensation or mere mitigation. In short, they are about the added benefits that communities might receive from the business that are intended to turn its presence into a positive for the community.

These programmes are formulated by the business with their communities through a planning, baseline and consultation processes. The following are indicative of the types of programmes and activities that might be undertaken:  enterprise development, training and employment, local service and supply, capacity building, community infrastructure, social services, or philanthropy.
