Safety strategy and plan for 2006
The strategy outlines the continued commitment of Rio Tinto to the systems and processes already in place. The safety plan for 2006 focuses on the components of the strategy identified by the Executive Committee for urgent implementation. The key themes contained in the 2006 Plan are:
- Strengthen safety leadership.
- Hold leaders openly accountable for safety results.
- Improve the investigation process.
- Identify and manage all critical and high level risks.
- Improve the quality of safety interactions.
- Require full compliance with the Rio Tinto safety standards.
Site safety plans seek to address the elements of the Rio Tinto plan as well as local issues.
