Land access results
Rio Tinto's activities generally require the use of land for mining, processing and related activities including ports, railways and power stations. We refer to this as our footprint and we strive to manage it by:
- minimising disturbance;
- progressively rehabilitating land as it becomes available, where commercially and technically feasible;
- where possible maintaining ecosystem functions, biodiversity and habitat; and
- actively planning for closure.
