Implementing formal product stewardship programmes
Ninety one per cent of Rio Tinto businesses were in the process of developing or had already established a formal product stewardship programme by the end of 2005. Four per cent of Rio Tinto businesses had a product stewardship programme aligned to the Product Stewardship Strategy, 22 per cent of Rio Tinto's businesses had formal product stewardship programmes in place, 26 per cent were developing a programme, and 39 per cent were starting to develop a conceptual framework to address these issues.
