Spills
There were 260 spills in 2005, a slight increase from 2004.
Two of these were classified as significant and, although we did not meet our target of zero significant spills, this was a 50 per cent decrease from last year. The two significant spills in 2005 were:
- Murowa – Discharge of tailing dam effluent into the natural environment.
- Boron - Extreme rainfall event resulted in accumulation of rainwater that was accidently released to neighbouring areas.
Our target continues to be zero significant spills.
