Principles for partnerships
Over time we have learnt that working in partnership is not easy. Effective partnerships require commitment, professional management, transparency, dedicated resources and patience. Above all, partnerships require respect and a willingness to harness disparate experiences and skills to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
Considerations include the:
- Strategic relevance of the potential partnership for both parties
- Capacity of the partnership to make effective use of resources
- Capacity and interest of the partnerships to jointly contribute to policy development
- Opportunity for direct involvement of Rio Tinto people and operations
- Potential for a long term relationship
