Labour standards for contractors
All businesses require core labour standards of main contractors. Examples are:
- Borax Europe requires all contractors to sign an agreement to comply with Rio Tinto safety standards and any country specific legal/legislative requirement. If they do not, contractors are not engaged.
- Rio Tinto Coal Australia does not specifically enunciate "labour standards" in consultancy or contractor agreements. However a standard consultancy template contains specific provisions which require that all employees, agents, contractors and sub contractors comply with Rio Tinto Coal Australia's site and employment regulations and practices.
- Rio Tinto Brasil requires all contractors to comply with Brazilian labour legislation, and with RTB's code of conduct and health, safety and environment policy, as a condition of doing work for RTB.
